New Program !

New to Canada - First Time Skaters 

Are you new to Canada, never been on ice skates. We have a new program running for anyone who is new to Canada who is interested in learning to Skate in a positive and fun environment.

Teen Learn to Skate (13-17) 

Are you ages 13 - 17? and looking to fine tune your
skating skills or be more confident on the outdoor
rinks or at public skate nights at the arena? Why not
join us for our teen Learn to Skate program. With our
professional team of coaches, you will be gliding
along in no time.

Parent + Tot:  (Ages 3-5) 

A program developed to allow a family member* to assist in their young skaters development. This program allows the skaters to receive hands-on assistance from a family member who they know, trust and is in their cohort.  

This Parented program focuses on learning through FUN! High energy music, actions songs and toys create an inviting learning environment for any preschooler learning to skate.

Adults and skaters will participate in small group lessons led by an NCCP certified professional coach. Upon mastering the skills in this program, skaters will move into our CanSkate program.  

Both the skater and the family member must be registered with Skate Canada ($45.00 per person). As such, the same family member is required to attend each class. “Parent” may include members of the skater’s household or members of their social circle that can be responsible for the skater. When registering for this class, please be sure to add the CHILD class and the corresponding PARENT class) to your cart.

Note:  Parents/adults must be 18 years of age and have basic skating skills (balance on 2 feet, move forwards and stop). CSA approved helmets are required for both parent/adult and skater. 


Adult Learn To Skate: 

  • You’re never too old to ice skate! Adults are invited to learn to skate or
    enhance their skating skills in a fun and comfortable learning environment.
    Classes include group instruction by a NCCP coach and encourage skaters to
    learn at their own pace.


  • a learn to skate program (levels 1 to 6) for fundamental skating skills such as forward and backward skating, stopping and turning
  • provides a good foundation for all skating sports
  • PreCanSkate available for skaters (ages 3 and up) who have never skated before or are not confident with their balance on the ice


  • a learn to skate program that is an excellent complement for those athletes playing hockey
  • focuses on balance, power, agility, speed and endurance and is composed of 6 levels
  • Pre-Power (ages 4 and up) is available to skaters who can stand up on skates and move forward (shuffle, walk or glide) but are not quite ready for level 1 of CanPowerSkate

STAR Development:

  • an advanced CanSkate class for those who are interested in the sport of figure skating.  STAR Development is the bridge into the Skate Canada STAR 1-5 Program of figure skating tests and competitive events.
  • interested skaters in levels 4-6 of the CanSkate program should contact us first to determine suitability for this program


  • for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating
  • skaters should be at or have completed CanSkate level 5 before considering moving up to STARSkate
  • skaters need to have their own coach to participate in STARSkate (see our list of coaches on our main website)


  • specialized discipline of skating involving groups of eight or more skaters performing various group formations and maneuvers
  • skaters interested in trying synchronized skating must contact coach Kim Blake ( before registering


  • Adult skaters and past members over the age of 18 can practice their skills in a friendly environment.

  • ALL RECREATIONAL SKATE PROGRAMS (PreCanSkate, CanSkate, Pre-Power, CanPower, STAR Development, and AdultSkate) are credit card online only
  • STARSkate and Synchro Programs
    • credit card online only
    • e-transfer - (winter session only) must be approved prior to registration.  Must be paid in full to within 10 days of online registration and before the session starts (please send security word to transfer funds in separate email)
    • Instalments for STARSkate Programs: only for payments made by credit card (winter session only)
